ABOUT ME
JOCK MACDONALD
Actor. Writer. Director. Coach.
With over 50 years of professional experience in the US, Canada, and Europe, I’ve built a career that spans stage, film, television, and teaching. Today, I coach actors around the world, helping them unlock their truth and bring their best work to life.
I’ve had guest-starring roles in numerous prime-time and daytime television shows, across both sitcoms and dramas. My film work includes over ten major roles in studio releases and independent productions. On stage, I’ve performed leading roles in regional theaters across the US, and I starred in the lead role of an award-winning Off-Broadway play.
Alongside my work as an actor, director, and writer, I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to give back. I’ve:
-
Launched workshops at regional theaters
-
Run ongoing professional training programs
-
Taught at universities across North America
Wherever I’ve worked, I’ve coached actors, writers, and directors — sharing the craft and insight I’ve gained over decades in the industry.
🎓 BA in Theatre – University of Vermont
🎓 MFA in Acting – Ohio University
📜 Diploma in Television Acting – Wiest-Barron School of Television
📜 Diploma in Shakespeare and Comedy Acting – BADA, Balliol College, Oxford University
My Approach
I don’t teach actors to copy a technique or method. I help them discover what’s already inside them — their unique way of acting. That philosophy has shaped not only my own work, but also the success of the actors I’ve had the privilege to coach.
